Brookvex Academy is an established provider of renewable energy and sustainability training. Our academy draws on years of hands on and consultancy experience in the renewable energy sector and provides you with the skills you need to become part of a growing sector.

Your courses will be as practical as possible and are taught by experienced installers and renewable energy professionals. We provide a real life training environment enabling you to gain valuable practical installation experience.

The following courses are available:

RENEWABLE ENERGY INTRODUCTION

This course provides a solid introduction to renewable energy and includes an overview on:

• Solar Photovoltaic (PV) power
• Solar Thermal Hot Water
• Micro-Hydro power
• Wind power
• Heat pumps
• Biomass heating systems

BPEC Renewable Energy Awareness CPD

This course provides a national qualification in renewable energy awareness and includes an introduction to heat pumps, solar PV, solar thermal, micro wind, micro hydro, biogas and biomass. This is not an installer's course.

SOLAR

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) for Roofers Course

This is an introductory course to the various types of roof mounting equipment and electrical connectivity for solar photovoltaic PV products. Practical sessions will cover the installation of a variety of panels.

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Commercial Training Course

This course provides an entry level qualification for commercial installations of Solar Photovoltaic PV. It particularly suits commercial electricians who wish to extend their work into Solar Photovoltaics.

Solar PV Installation

This course covers the following:

• Financial incentives, payback
• Basic roofing structures
• Hands-on PV Panel Mounting
• Solar resource assessment (inc. SAP calcs.)
• G83/1 Grid connection requirements
• AC & DC electrical theory & practical for PV
• System testing

Work at Height for Solar Installers Course

This is an essential course for those who perform tasks at height and for all those who need to visit high locations during the course of their work. Training includes:

• Methods for access
• Work at height regulations
• Controlling height related hazards
• Positioning techniques
• Practical fall arrest techniques

WATER

WRAS Water Regulations Course

This is a foundation course designed for installers who need to gain the required knowledge of the Water Regulations 1999 before either applying to join their local water authorities approved plumber scheme or one of the plumbing competent person schemes. A WRAS certification is provided on successful completion.

Unvented (G3) Hot Water Systems

This course provides an excellent grounding in the principals of unvented hot water systems and the theories of hot water expansion. The training includes:

• Overview of the regulations, standards and guidelines
• Components and how they function
• Safety controls, discharge and integration
• Design
• Accumulators
• Installation of unvented hot water cylinders
• Maintenance and servicing of unvented hot water systems
• Health and safety

Rainwater Harvesting

The Brookvex Academy rainwater harvesting course is aimed at builders, works engineers and plumbers who wish to increase their work opportunities in Rainwater and Greywater Harvesting.

WIND

Small-Scale Wind Turbines (Grid-Tied) Installation

This course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and hands-on training you need to understand how to install small scale wind turbines. It includes and overview on survey and site inspection, building regulations, earthing requirements, electrical test procedures and structural surveys.
